At Sandager Næs Camping you’ll never be bored. We have fun activities for children of all ages. At the same time, there’s also plenty to see around the campsite. We’ve gathered some of the best sights, day trips and excursions within easy reach.
The market town of Assens is a cozy harbor town located about 12 km south of Sandager Næs Camping. In addition to a number of grocery stores such as Netto, Rema1000 and Super Brugsen, you’ll also find a shopping street with lots of charm and idyllic atmosphere.
Here you can explore colonial delights at one of the city’s many restaurants or enjoy an old-fashioned ice cream cone in the garden. Assens has a size that makes it easy to get around, and parking is free in most places.
In the summer, the city is particularly lively due to the many tourists, but also because major events are regularly held both in the harbor area and in the rest of the city.
Assens also has a cinema and a great music venue called Tobaksgaarden. Popular Danish and foreign artists perform here all year round.
Assens Bowling Center is an activity center with 8 bowling lanes, indoor playland for the little ones, gaming machines, pool tables, etc. located just a 10-minute drive from the campsite.
It’s perfect if the Danish summer weather is a bit of a drag, or if you want to eat out in the city with the whole family in mind. In the center there is a restaurant where you can enjoy the large buffet at very reasonable prices. Alternatively, we can also recommend their burgers and West Funen’s best spare ribs.

Pulsen – Activity and movement for the whole family
Just a short drive from the campsite you’ll find Pulsen – a modern activity area at Arena Assens where the whole family can get their heart rate up and enjoy lots of fun and movement outdoors.
Pulse offers a wealth of opportunities:
The area is open to everyone and completely free to use. Whether you’re into serious training, fun games or just a bit of active fun, you’ll find something for both children and adults.
When you need a break, you can visit Arena Assens’ café or take a stroll in the nearby city center, where there are also great shopping opportunities.
The Strøjer Collection is an incredibly popular attraction that is only open to the public for a few days each year. Here you will find a wide collection of cars. The exhibition includes unique cars such as royal cars, Le Mans cars, Grand Prix and racing cars. It’s every car enthusiast’s dream to take a peek inside this world of luxury cars.
The cars are not in large numbers, but they all have a good story, an interesting owner or perhaps the car has been used for a special purpose, such as the charcoal gray Aston Martin that was featured in the James Bond movie “Die Another Day”.
Take a different kind of bike ride through the West Funen landscape with rail biking between Tommerup St. and Glamsbjerg. The old railway line has now been transformed into a cozy 11 km experience route where you can enjoy nature at your own pace.
The rail bikes are easy to use and can accommodate 3-4 people and some luggage. Two people pedal while the others can sit back and enjoy the views of open fields, small forest trails and idyllic landscapes. Along the route you’ll find rest stops where you can take a break, enjoy a packed lunch or just relax.
You can start your trip from both Tommerup and Glamsbjerg, but remember to return the bike to the same place you picked it up. Rail biking is a great activity for families, friends and groups who want an active day in nature – filled with smiles and fresh air!
Experience the blue MTB trail at Brunebjerg in Assens
Are you ready for an exciting ride in hilly terrain? At Brunebjerg in Assens, a beautifully landscaped blue MTB trail awaits you, winding through open slopes, lush forest, a river valley and beautiful pastures.
The trail is clearly marked with blue arrows on black posts to help you find your way. The surface varies between forest floor, gravel, singletrack through dense forest and open stretches on wider paths – with a few steep climbs for extra challenge.
How to find the trail:
Take Solsikkevej from Faaborgvej and follow the signs for the MTB track and the dog forest. The trail starts at the information board, which you will find to the right of the gate at the end of the road.

Hop on your bike and explore Brunebjerg – a gem for MTB lovers in the middle of the West Funen landscape!
Vestfyns Fodboldgolf offers lots of laughter, competition and cozy hours in the great outdoors. Football and golf are combined on a fun course where the aim is to kick the ball into the hole in as few kicks as possible.
The course is set in scenic surroundings and consists of 18 challenging holes with various obstacles, hills and creative details. Everyone can join in – regardless of age and ball skills – and the game is perfect for families, friends, company outings and larger groups.
Bring a picnic basket and enjoy lunch at the cozy tables and benches set up in the area. Vestfyns Fodboldgolf creates the setting for a relaxed day filled with fun, fresh air and a great atmosphere.
The game typically takes 1.5-2 hours depending on the number of participants, and the course is open all summer. An ideal activity for those who want to combine play, movement and nature experience on West Funen!
Get a rush and an experience out of the ordinary with Bridgewalking Lillebælt in Middelfart. Here you can walk on top of the old Little Belt Bridge – 60 meters above the water – and experience a fantastic view of the Little Belt, Funen and Jutland.
The tour is accompanied by a guide who will tell you about the bridge’s history, construction and the surrounding area. Along the way, you’ll feel the wind in your hair, watch the ships glide by far below you and maybe even see the porpoises playing in the water.
Bridgewalking doesn’t require any special skills, but you should be ready for heights and exciting challenges. The experience is suitable for families, couples and groups who want to try something unique.
The tour takes approximately 2 hours including safety briefing and getting dressed. An unforgettable activity where you literally see the world from new heights!
