A campsite with soul and history
Sandager Næs Camping is not just a campsite – it’s a place with soul, history and warm traditions dating back to 1975. Back then, Lis and Erik Uglvig Madsen founded the site, which at the time consisted of a camping permit, a few toilets and a single communal shower.
Campers arrived in small caravans such as Europa, Corsar or Sprite, or with tents in the characteristic orange and brownish shades of the time. Cooking was done on alcohol appliances, and camping was a simple and primitive form of vacation back then – close to nature and with plenty of freedom.
The flow of guests to the scenic surroundings of West Funen grew steadily, and over time Sandager Næs Camping developed into a modern campsite with all the amenities guests expect today.
A family place through generations
His son Michael Uglvig Madsen literally grew up at the campsite, and his wife Trine worked at the campsite for seven seasons before they took over as hosts themselves.
“Camping has always been a big part of my life. There has always been a great spirit here at the site, and Trine and I will do everything we can to preserve it“, says Michael.
Lis and Erik are still an active part of camping life when an extra hand is needed, and today the next generation is about to experience a childhood filled with life, freedom and playmates – in the safe environment of the campsite.
Focus on the future
Although much has changed since its inception, Sandager Næs Camping continues to work to stay ahead of the curve – without letting go of the special spirit and hospitality that has made the site special for almost 50 years.
